Chopard Baselworld 2019 – Mille Miglia Race Edition
Chopard celebrates again in 2019 its partnership with the Mille Miglia classic car race. Limited to 1000 pieces, this year’s model presents a number of enhanced design features.
Chopard has further enhanced this legibility by using a very clean, 6-9-12 layout, with the chronograph hours and minutes shown on the sub-dials at 6 and 12 o’clock respectively. The snailed black chronograph sub-dials with white transfers stand out clearly against the snailed grey main dial, and feature contrasting red hands. Likewise, the chronograph seconds numerals pointed to by the central red-tipped sweep-seconds hand, have been integrated into the inner bezel ring – also in contrasting black with a white transfer – to save space on the dial.
The timepiece is powered by a COSC-certified self-winding chronograph movement with a full two-day power reserve. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, it ensures eighth-of-a-second measurement of short times, perfectly adapted to old-timers’ road-going exploits. The tachymeter scale engraved on the blackened aluminium insert of the bezel serves to calculate the average speed during the race. An essential piece of information for drivers, given that an endurance event such as the Mille Miglia race is won by regularity.
The gray-blue dial and the cognac calfskin strap masterly combine contemporary and classic design elements. The high-performance model houses a self-winding chronograph movement and has a power reserve of 48 hours.
Happy Sport Oval
The updated version of the Happy Sport Oval in 18k rose gold impresses with its freely moving diamonds and the faceted crown set with a blue sapphire. Gold-plated hands move above the silver-plated dial with gold-plated Roman numerals and below the anti-reflective sapphire crystal. This watch is powered by self-winding caliber 09.01.-C with a power reserve of 42 hours.
