The Schaffhausen manufacture celebrates an important anniversary with a ‘Jubilee Collection’ featuring no less than 28 limited-edition models as well as its first-ever wristwatch to feature the digital hours and minute display that appeared on the Pallweber pocket watches of 1884.
2018 marks the 150th anniversary of German brand IWC Schaffhausen. To celebrate, the company – which was founded by American businessman Florentine Ariosto Jones in 1868 and has since furnished the likes of Ewan McGregor, Boris Becker and Tim Jeffries with superlative timepieces – has launched a 28-piece collection of anniversary watches at the SIHH, which opened officially yesterday.
Comprising pieces from all the key IWC families (the classic Portuguieser, the heavy-duty Pilot’s Watch (above), the dressy Da Vinci and the elegant Portofino), the look of the collection takes its cue from IWC’s Pallweber pocket watch, which first made an appearance in 1884. Each watch in the new collection features an imprinted dial in either lacquered blue or white, much like the original Pallweber.
