Vacheron Constantin – December 2018 News
Discover our Vacheron Constantin favourites this month. Featuring a stunning Metiers D’Arts Floriege timepiece with exquisite artwork on the dial. A limited edition of only 20 worldwide.
The Métiers d’Art Florilege Collection draws its motifs and pays tribute to the botanical illustrations from the work of 18th century physician Robert John Thornton called The Temple of Flora (1799). Vacheron Constantin is paying close attention to history in its own time, once again.
The production of these vivid and luminous Grand Feu cloisonné enamels dials begins with the engraver. He/she cuts tiny lines into the metal base to create radiating symmetrical patterns. The enameller then outlines the desired shapes of the flower with thin gold wires that are filled with colored enamel. Next the dials go into an oven for firing at temperatures of about 800 degrees Celsius.
She repeats the process multiple times for each hue, adding layers of enamel to intensify the colors and luminosity. Finally, a layer of transparent enamel is applied and polished to preserve the work of art for the ages.
These beautiful pieces are now available at our Sydney boutique, located at 80 Castlereagh Street. Call us on +61 2 9231 3299 to enquire.
